Some 30,000 tons of Turkmenistan’s fertilizers will be transited to India from the Iranian ports of Amirabad and Shahid Rajaei, located in north and south, Director General of Amirabad Ports and Maritime Organization and Special Economic Zone Siavash Rezvani said.

“So far, 10 percent of the fertilizers have been transferred to Iran’s Amirabad port through the Turkmenbashi International Seaport,” Rezvani added, IRNA news agency reported on October 7.

The cargo will be taken to Shahid Rajaei port in the southern Iranian province of Hormozgan and later to India, he said.

It was the second cargo entering the Iranian port, Rezvani said, noting that earlier a Tajik merchant transited 154 buses via Amirabad port to Dushanbe.

Amirabad is currently the largest port facility on the Caspian shore and the third largest port in Iran. The 1,000-hectare port currently has nine berths, which can accommodate Ro-Ro vessels, trains and trucks.
