Delaware finished a solid seventh in a listing of states that are good landing spots for online business.  The First State finished just behind the technology stronghold of California.

Topping the list was the state of Washington, home of technology behemoths  Microsoft and Amazon.

The listing came from Frontier Business, a company that provides business communications services.

Mentioned in the ranking was Delaware’s  status as an incorporation capital, a  low cost of living when compared to other states on the top 10 list,  and beaches that are popular destinations on the East Coast.

Frontier Business’s research took into account factors like tech infrastructures (broadband speed, access, business bundles, etc.  with economic climates, workforce education, and overall quality of life in its report.

This year, tech havens Colorado and Massachusetts kicked Washington, D.C., and Arizona out of the top ten.

Delaware has traditionally finished high in online rankings, due, in part,  to high broadband speeds that are available to businesses of all sizes.

Portions of Delaware also see competition for high-speed broadband between Verizon FiOS and Comcast. Comcast also operates a dedicated business Internet group.

Other areas away from the I-95 corridor in  Delaware do suffer from slower Internet speeds. The state has worked to widen high-speed Internet access.
