Negotiations on the possible launch of assembly of Russian UAZ cars in Uzbekistan are at the initial stage, Uzbek media reported citing head of the CIS sales department of the company Alexei Zabolotnov addressing the Expo-Russia Uzbekistan 2018 industrial exhibition, which opened in Tashkent on April 25.
“One of the plans is to organize assembly of our cars. Uzbekistan has very good opportunities in terms of car business,” Zabolotnov said.
Zabolotnov noted that launching the assembly of cars in the republic is relevant due to its economic feasibility.
“We are currently considering the possibility. We hold periodic consultations and communicate very closely with Uzavtosanoat,” said the representative of the car factory.
He said that the company is considering assembly of several UAZ models, such as Patriot, Pickup and Profi.
“From the point of view of spare parts availability, repair opportunities and guarantees, we are traditionally closer to the consumer here [in Uzbekistan] than western brands,” the representative of UAZ added.
Speaking about sales plans, Zabolotnov noted that UAZ intends to increase the figure to 1,000 sold in cars in 2018 against approx. 400 vehicles in 2017.
