FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a motorist who struck and killed a 6-year-old Southern California girl was driving with a blood-alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit.
Police in Fullerton say 52-year-old Maximino Delgado was arrested Saturday on suspicion of felony drunk driving, felony vehicular manslaughter and driving with a suspended license. It wasn’t immediately known if he has an attorney.
Officials say Delgado tried to make a turn when he lost control and drove onto the sidewalk, striking the girl. She died at a hospital.
Delgado’s 1990 Toyota 4Runner crashed into a parked car before coming to a stop. He remained at the scene and cooperated with police.
