By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:

A fiber-optic communication line will be laid along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India route in the second half of February, said a source in the Turkmen Communications Ministry.

It was reported in 2016 that five international backbone fiber-optic communication lines (Ashgabat-Bajigiran (Iran), Serhetabat-Herat (Afghanistan), Ymamnazar-Akin (Afghanistan), Turkmenabat-Bukhara (Uzbekistan) and Garabogaz-Fetisov (Kazakhstan)) are linked in Turkmenistan.

There are two main fiber-optic systems in the country: the Ashgabat-Mary-Turkmenabat-Dashoguz-Ashgabat ring and the Garabogaz-Turkmenbashi-Ashgabat-Mary-Turkmenabat-Atamyrat-Ymamnazar radial, which are linked to networks of neighboring states.
