Realization of the project for development of the pan-European Danube waterway corridor, within which the European Agency for Reconstruction already approved a financial plan for modernization of the river transport routes in Serbia, will assist to the country to increase the capacities of its river logistics in 4 times by 2025, declared a representative of Association Zita Srbije, Suncica Savovic during his report within frames of the Agro-logistics forum "Dnieper-Danube-Black Sea" on October 18 in Chisinau, Moldova.

According to the speaker, realization of the project will allow connecting the Black Sea and the North Sea through the Danube river by numerous river channels, which will also form the transport network Vienna - Bratislava - Budapest - Belgrade - Reni - Izmail - Ust-Dunaisk. Also, such development will allow increasing the efficiency of goods transportation by river transport, which share in Serbia totals 5% only of the general cargo turnover in the country, while in the EU member-states the figures total nearly 15%, and in the Netherlands – nearly 40%.
