'Stop flying to Croatia - this hidden gem is just as beautiful and so much cheaper'
A woman who has been travelling the world for years has shared a 'hidden gem' travel destination that she claims is a cheaper alternative to Croatia while being 'just as beautiful'
A seasoned traveller has revealed her top tips for those seeking affordable and less crowded holiday spots, with her number one recommendation just a short flight from the UK.
Digital nomad Jessica has taken to TikTok to document her globe-trotting lifestyle, leveraging remote work arrangements to explore the world while maintaining a steady income. As a result, she's become somewhat of a guru in uncovering the best deals and destinations.
In one clip, she imparts her travel savvy to her thousands of followers, spotlighting a lesser-known holiday destination she touts as a more budget-friendly alternative to Croatia.
"If you're looking for some European destination inspiration, then these are the places you should be looking at," she began her video, which has amassed over 1.1 million views.
"Hear me out, Montenegro," she unveiled. "It is Croatia vibes without the Croatia cost. It is significantly cheaper than Croatia, but it still has the gorgeous blue water, the stunning little seaside town and lovely shops, budget restaurants."
Discussing the country's myriad attractions, Jessica enthused: "You can do everything in Montenegro from mountain hiking, renting kayaks, bikes, ziplines - the activities are endless. And there are a fraction of a cost of most European countries."
She proceeded to illustrate just how economical a holiday could be by revealing that accommodation costs could dip as low as £20 per night.
"This is just a really quick search on Airbnb, and you can find places starting for about £20 per night, and the places I recommend you look first is Couture and Budfar," she suggested.
Jessica's hidden gem quickly sparked a conversation in the comments section, with some individuals sharing their own experiences of visiting Montenegro.
"Loved Montenegro but found it to be more expensive than I expected and also kotor is super super touristy (but lovely)" one person shared, while another dubbed it "heaven on earth".
A third commenter proposed: "Another shout is doing a longer trip that includes Croatia and Montenegro - then you can have a 10 day trip for the price of 5."
However, not everyone agreed with Jessica's assertion that Montenegro was a cheaper alternative to Croatia.
One individual countered: "In my experience Croatia was cheaper than Montenegro."
Another added: "Montenegro is stunning but I would not call it budget.. pretty much same prices as UK when it comes to prices.."
