Topical areas of development of Turkmen -Korean cooperation were outlined

Today, within the framework of the second day of the official visit to the Republic of Korea, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with President of the friendly country Yoon Seok Yeol and took part in the business forum as well as held a number of meetings with heads of leading south Korean companies. The present state of bilateral relations and future of further development of interstate cooperation became the main topic of discussion.

Having expressed confidence that the present visit of Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will become a significance landmark in the strengthening of the interstate dialogue, President Yoon Seok Yeol gave the floor to the Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan.

In the current year, 30 years have become since the establishment of diplomatic relations. For the past period, a great deal of work has been carried out to strengthen the Turkmen-Korean relations, the Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh stated.

Further in the meeting, Hero Arkadag underlined that Turkmenistan sets forth the philosophy of the dialogue of trust in interstate relations on the basis of which is the initiative of creation of the mechanism of sound political and legal guarantee for development of interstate relations based on generally accepted international legal standards and in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations.

In the given context, it was noted that our country sets forward the new philosophy of international relations “Dialogue –guarantee of peace”, based on concrete well-thought political criteria, sound positive pragmatism, generally accepted and comprehensible universal values.

Decisions adopted by the forum “Republic of Korea – Central Asia”, aimed at also strengthening of security, ensuring of global peace, the Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh said, underlining that Turkmenistan will chair the given structure in 2023.

Availing of the given opportunity, Hero Arkadag invited the President of the Republic of Korea to make an official visit to Turkmenistan at any time convenient for him and having thanked the head of the friendly country for his efforts to develop bilateral cooperation, wished him successes in his state affairs, sound health, family wellbeing and prosperity to the Korean people.

Upon completion of the meeting, Hero Arkadag headed towards the place of his residence designated for him during his stay in the Republic of Korea.

In the afternoon, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan held a meeting with the President of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) Christopher Koo, during which issues of developing cooperation in various areas, in particular, in the transport and logistics sector, were discussed.

As was underlined, in our country special attention is paid to modern development of the transport logistics sphere, construction of internationally important routes and increase of potential of transport transit corridors.

At present, Turkmenbashi international seaport located on the important crossroad of Europe and Asia, is a significant project of transport infrastructure, Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said, making an emphasis on enormous opportunities of the seaport in transportation of goods from the Republic of Korea to European countries.

Further, developing on the topic, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan pointed out that in establishment of international cargo transportation one can make use of the potential of international motor roads, international railway corridors of our country, the new seaport built on the Caspian seashore efficiently. Cooperation in interregional transport-transit corridors via development of transcontinental cargo transportation by routes of the East-West and North-South to markets of Asia, Europe and the Near East is also looked upon as a strategic one.

Upon completion of the meeting, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan and President of the Korea International Trade Association expressed confidence that efficient realization of the transport transit potential will facilitate maintenance of stable economic growth and strengthening of peace in the region.

Then, Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with representatives of business circles of the Republic of Korea.

Before the start of the meeting, the Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan at the request of participants of the business meeting had his photograph taken together with them as a keepsake.

Having opened the meeting, the head of the Korea International Trade Association expressed his acknowledgment to Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the given time and noted that he was glad for the opportunity to exchange views on major areas of partnership.

Then, Mr Christopher Koo having introduced the Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh to heads of firms and relevant structures taking part in the present meeting, familiarized him with activity of each of them and their projects.

The meeting was attended by the heads of the following companies and structures of the country - "Hyundai Engineering", "Hyundai Corporation", "Hyundai Motor", Export-Import Bank of Korea "KEXIM", "LX International Corp.", "Omnisystem Co Ltd", "Daewoo Engineering & Construction, Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute (KOMERI), MESCO, National Institute for the Development of Korean Medicine, Chilgok Clinic at Kyungbuk National University, KITECH Convergent Technology Center, KD Navien.

Then, the floor was given to the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan.

Having highly appreciated the joint proposal to organize the meeting of representatives of Korean companies with their partners from Turkmenistan, Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov marked that it became a wonderful opportunity to discuss the future of cooperation, plans and to understand clearly the position and goals of each side.

Such representative composition of participants speaks of a great interest in Turkmenistan by business circles of the Republic of Korea. The present meeting is called to facilitate the strengthening of traditional partnership and establishment of new contacts. Today there are wide opportunities for radical expansion of interaction in production and technological and investment spheres, Hero Arkadag said.

In spite of the negative tendencies in the international situation, in our country a stable pace of growth of the gross domestic production is maintained and its index for ten months of the current year made up 6,2 percent.

Attractiveness of Turkmen market is to a great extent stipulated by the social and political stability and well-coordinated activity of state institutions. Important aspects of reforms implemented today are diversification of economy and steady transition to production of goods with high added value cost.

“Among strategic tasks are also increase in the share of innovative products, introduction of energy saving technologies, which we are planning to solve based on the advanced world practice in this sphere, cooperation with foreign partners, search for new ways of cooperation, especially with the Republic of Korea, one of our active partners in the investment sphere”, – the Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh continued his word.

As an example, it was noted that today in Turkmenistan over 13 projects have been registered with participation of Korean companies for the total sum of over eleven billion US dollars.

Among priority areas were mentioned accomplishment of the outlook of Turkmen cities. As Hero Arkadag pointed out, today in Turkmenistan at the final stage of completion is the grandiose project, construction of the new administration centre of Akhal region. The given complex is unique by its technical and technological parameters and serves an example of modern innovative concept of the “smart city”.

Besides it, realization of another mega project “Ashgabat city” which includes comfortable residential houses designated for tens of thousands of residents, road and transport network, wide ecological zones, entertaining and educational centres for population, was given a start.

– We know the interest of «Daewoo Engineering & Construction» in participation in the project and support its strive, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh said, having invited other representatives of the Korean business to cooperation in modernization of city planning on the basis of the latest technologies and management solutions.

Speaking results of long years of relations, Hero Arkadag pointed out that mutual potential may be used more widely, first of all, taking into account diversification of the economy of Turkmenistan, creation of high tech production facilities and international infrastructure projects in the energy sector and transport and communications sphere.

Having stated presence of real opportunities opened today, the Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh expressed readiness of our country for the wide and interested dialogue in all areas. Such approach is stipulated with more clearly mutual understating of both views of priorities and future of bilateral cooperation and tendencies of global economic development.

Then, heads of leading Korean companies, who expressed gratitude to the Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh for the given time to meet within the framework of his official visit to the Republic of Korea, spoke.

As was noted, bilateral business partnership bears a regular character. Representatives of Korean business circles show a growing interest in participation in realization of city planning programs and concept of the “smart city“ in Turkmenistan.

Taking into account the priory of issues of optimization of oil and gas industry and introduction of advanced technologies, South Korean businesspersons expressed their readiness to share with the Turkmen side with their modern solutions and methods in the sphere.

Then, the ceremony of signing of bilateral documents between profile structures and business circles of both countries took place.

Among them are: Memorandum of mutual understanding between the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan and Korea International Trade Association (KITA); Memorandum of mutual understanding between the State Border Service of Turkmenistan and “Hyundai Corporation”; Memorandum of mutual understanding between “Türkmenawtoulaglary” Agency of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and “Hyundai Corporation” on expansion of trade and economic, scientific, technical cooperation; Memorandum of mutual understanding between the State Water Economy Committee of Turkmenistan and “Hyundai Corporation”; Memorandum of mutual understanding between the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan and “Hyundai Engineering” on development of the project, equipment and construction of the ammonium and urea plant in Balkan region; Memorandum of mutual understanding and the Agreement on confidentiality between “Türkmenhimiýa” State Concern and “Daewoo Engineering & Construction”.

Then, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan met with the head of “Daewoo Engineering & Construction” Jung Won-ju.

Participation of the company in realization of city planning programs became the subject of discussion. At that, it was noted that use of experience gained by Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan and large Korean cities in practice would be useful for both sides.

Special attention was attached to digital systems and technologies of the “smart “ city in construction of projects of the new administration centre of Akhal region and adjoining territories of the capital. In this connection, views of opportunities for developing cooperation with leading companies of the republic of Korea specialized in the given sphere were exchanged.

Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also met with Director General of “Hyundai Engineering” Hong Hyeon-sung and President of “LX International Corp “ Yoon Chun-Sung.

Having stated presence of enormous potential for activity of Korean companies in Turkmenistan, businessmen expressed their interest in realization of planned projects, including those ones in the oil and gas and chemical industries, processing of fuel and energy resources. At that, it was underlined that for “Hyundai Engineering” and “LX International Corp” it was a great honour to work at the promising Turkmen market and make a contribution to implementation of large scale transformations.

Upon completion of the official visit to the Republic of Korea, the Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan left for homeland.

Within the framework of the official visit of Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Korea, meetings of members of the delegation of Turkmenistan with heads of profile structures of the friendly country took place and during their course, ways of further development of bilateral partnership were discussed.

The interested exchange of views of attraction of investments in the gas chemistry sector of our country took place during talks of heads of the Board of Directors of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan, “Türkmenhimiýa” State Concern and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs with the head of the Export–Import Bank of Korea, vice president of the Korea Trade Insurance Corporation, and head of “BAI Energy”.

At the meeting of the head of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and businessmen of Turkmenistan with heads of Korean companies “Hyundai Engineering” and “Jies” as well as the mayor of one of the provinces of the Republic of Korea, issues connected with realization of the city planning program, solution of tasks of the concept of the “smart city “and possibilities of participation in projects initiated in Turkmenistan in this sphere were discussed.
