IT'S FANTASTIC!> City Administrator Jake Anderson is thrilled - Amazon chose Grimes for its newest delivery center. <IT'S A BIG DEAL...> Amazon announced Wednesday - that this Hubbell warehouse along 141 will be its newest delivery center starting in early 2020. This video sho what it will look like inside. The idea is - after an order is fulfilled it will come here and be put on a delivery van. <AMAZON WILL RELEASE 20 VANS AT A TIME HALF HOUR INCREMENTS> In Bondurant constructon has been underway on "Project Bluejay" Amazon has yet to confirm - but it's rumored that Amazon orders will be fullfilled at the Bondurant warehouse before being shipped out of the Grimes location. Attention, central Iowa shoppers!If you make purchases on Amazon, you can expect same-day or next-day delivery starting in March 2020.Amazon Logistics announced Wednesday that it will open an Iowa delivery station in Grimes. The company plans to move into a Hubbell warehouse at 1301 SE Gateway Drive.According to Amazon, delivery stations supplement Amazon's delivery capabilities to support the growing volume of customer orders."Amazon will release 20 vans at a time in half-hour increments," Grimes City Administrator Jake Anderson said.In Bondurant, construction is underway for Project Bluejay -- a warehouse speculated to be an Amazon fulfillment center.Amazon has yet to confirm it is behind the project, but it is rumored that Amazon orders will be fulfilled at a warehouse in Bondurant before being shipped out of the Grimes location.Grimes city leaders said they expect the project to create several hundred part-time and full-time jobs."An exciting aspect of having Amazon in the community is that they have got a $15-an-hour minimum wage," Anderson said.The delivery station in Grimes is expected to be completed by 2020.Grimes Mayor Scott Mikkelsen said in a statement: "Amazon's investment in Grimes creates a wave of excitement within the economic development sector in Grimes and central Iowa."The confidence Amazon has shown in our city and region directly correlates with our ability to provide a top-quality workplace and living environment."
