A very special and exciting guest this month from America. Donna Washington is coming to Story & Laughter for a show and a workshop as part of her Australasian tour. This is her second visit to the Antipodes following her acclaimed work at the last Sydney International Storytelling Conference. They, and we, are thrilled to have her back on this side of the planet.

Donna Washington is an internationally known, multiple award-winning storyteller, spoken word recording artist, and author.

A highly animated performer, she has been entertaining, educating, and inspiring audiences with her vocal pyrotechnics, elastic face, and deep characterizations that bring folklore, literary tales, and personal narratives to life for over thirty years.

Donna has been called a “Walking Disney Movie”, and told she was "better than television".

Donna reaches people of all ages with her charismatic, animated performances.

Donna will also host a workshop from 1pm at The Scruffy Bunny Improv Theatre; Face, Voice, Gesture – How to use your storytelling Toolkit to its utmost! She says “Storytelling is more than just saying words. Incorporating sound effects, character voices, faces and bodies, and using gesture can enhance any story from The Three Little Pigs to that tale you tell about your Aunt Sally’s favorite Hat!” This workshop will suit anyone who does performance, public speaking, teaching, telling – being at the front of the room engaging an audience.
