Amtrak Service Resumes After Freight Rail Derailment
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Regular scheduled Amtrak service is resuming between Philadelphia and Washington D.C. after a service disruption in the Northeast corridor. The Maryland Transit Administration had said Amtrak 151 would not operate Thursday morning.
The service was temporarily suspended due to a freight rail derailment south of Philadelphia. Amtrak says crews were on the scene working to clear the area as quickly and safely as possible. Delays can still be expected due to a reduced number of tracks available.
The company says they will waive additional charges for any customers looking to change their reservations as a result of the disruption.
MTA is offering alternative Southbound MARC Trains from Perryville. MARC 517 and 525 are departing at 6:30 a.m. and 8:35 a.m.
