From fixtures and fun facts to the key men, all you need to know about Uruguay ahead of this summer's World Cup.

Manager: Oscar Tabarez

Star man: Luis Suarez - The Barcelona forward will hope to reach the 100-cap club come summer, having averaged more than a goal every other game for Uruguay to date.

How they qualified: Finished second in the South American standings, 10 points behind Brazil.

History: Two-time winners, picking up the inaugural trophy on home soil in 1930 before winning again in 1950. With 12 appearances to date, they have since reached the semi-finals three times, most recently in 2010, where they lost to the Netherlands.

Fun fact: Uruguay are one of four teams to have won all of their games at a World Cup. After winning all four matches to clinch the 1930 edition, Italy did so in 1938 (four matches), while Brazil achieved the feat twice, in 1970 (six matches) and 2002 (seven matches).

Best World Cup moment: Winning the first World Cup in 1930 was one thing, but beating hosts Brazil to seal glory 20 years later was a monumental achievement. The near 200,000-strong crowd at the Maracana were left stunned, with the 2-1 defeat seen as a national tragedy in Brazil.
