F2 Logistics works on Perez wish
Last year’s Most Valuable Player Maria Jose Perez has a fervent wish for her birthday.
“Everybody knows it, that’s to win another championship,” said the Venezuelan Olympian, who turns 30 on Sunday. “But it’s something we all have to work for.”
On Saturday afternoon inside Muntinlupa Sports Center, Perez and defending champion F2 Logistics moved a step toward that goal by defeating Foton, 25-18, 23-25, 25-20, 25-16, in the Chooks to Go-Philippine Superliga Grand Prix.
It was the Cargo Movers’ fifth win in six games.
“Today we showed teamwork,” said Perez. “We had very good combination of offense and defense and everybody played good together.”
In the second match, Cignal HD took its turn in claiming victory over hapless newbie Smart Prepaid, 25-21, 25-18, 25-20. It was the HD Spikers’ third win in six matches, while the Giga Hitters slumped to 0-6.
F2 Logistics unloaded 59 points on attacks against 38 by Foton, which the blocks (11-7) and service departments (18-13).
Foton tried to keep in step with F2 Logistics but committed 27 unforced errors.
