As the saying goes, a person’s true character is evident in what one does when no one is watching.
This FedEx delivery man put that into action with a quick, off-the-cuff gesture he made almost as an afterthought upon leaving a package.
The blink-and-you’ll-miss-it clip caught on a security camera catches the unnamed worker, in quick succession, catching sight of two throw pillows on a porch bench as he’s leaving, then switching them so that the stars are on the left and the stripes on the right.
“When the FedEx guy puts the stars before the stripes,” wrote homeowner Jackie Szabo of Ashland, Ohio, posting the 15-second video on Facebook.
It’s the type of human element that would be completely absent if drones were to deliver everything.
Szabo was especially touched given that she has military in her family, and posted the video on Facebook.
“It is sweet,” she told WOFL-TV. “My son is an Airborne Soldier and a veteran in the U.S. Army, so it’s extra special to me.”
It’s extra special to the internet, too. The post has racked up more than 3 million views, with 27,000 reactions, and been shared 74,000 times.
